Since this exercise just isolates a single muscle, your triceps, it doesn’t stimulate nearly as much muscle growth as a compound lift would. Though there are many different compound lifts, you must focus only on those that stimulate the most amount of muscle and allow you to lift the heaviest amount of weight. When I first started working out, I always logically figured the more work you put in, the more results you get in return. I trained for hours a day, sometimes six or seven days a week. I did a bunch of different exercises for many repetitions and sets. After years of doing this, I just came to the conclusion that I just couldn’t gain weight. In other words, if you want to get bigger you have to get stronger. As soon as your body becomes accustomed to a certain weight, it will no longer grow. You must constantly overload it with more weight then it is used to handling. In the past, since I was overtraining, I wasn’t able to get much stronger, which in turn was one of the reasons I wasn’t gaining any weight. Sure, I was getting a little stronger, but I still wasn’t lifting nearly enough weight to actually stimulate some serious muscle growth.
